Library Polices - Students, Faculty, Staff

Borrowing Privileges

All students and faculty have borrowing privileges.

Policies that apply to all members of the NDA community include the following:

  • All members of the community may borrow up to 5 books for 14 calendar days.  Notify the library either in person or via email to renew your books.
  • There is a 5-day grace period for returning books.
  • Exceptions to the borrowing policies may be granted on a case-by-case basis.

In addition, the following applies:

  • Students may renew books 1 time.
  • Faculty and staff may renew books 2 times.
  • Reference books do not circulate to students.  They must be used in the library.
  • Reference books may be borrowed by faculty and staff for 14-calendar days with a 5-day grace period; however, reference materials should be returned in a timely manner so others may use them as well.

Overdue Policies

Books may be checked out for 14 calendar days.  After 14 calendar days a 5-day grace period goes into effect.

If books are not returned within 90 days of their due date, borrowing privileges are suspended and the student/faculty/staff member will be charged for the current cost of replacing the book.

Reserve a Book

If a book you need is out on loan and you would like to have it placed on hold, please email the library at [email protected] and include your first and last names, the full title of the book, and the barcode of the book.  Bar code information can be found in the catalog.  Books will be placed on hold for 60 days.  If the book is returned within those 60 days, it will be held for an individual for 14 calendar days.  You will be notified via email that the book is on hold for you.  If not picked up by the end of the hold period, the book will be returned to the shelves for others to borrow.

Faculty may place up to 30 books on hold.  Students may place up to 5 books on hold.
