Athletic Department Philosophy

In harmony with the Academy’s mission “to educate the whole person,” the athletic program serves as an integral part of our educational values. The Academy’s philosophy to offer a well-rounded education can also be realized through athletic involvement. Upper School athletics are an extension of the classroom. Many valuable life-long lessons can be gained through participation in athletics. Student-athletes have the opportunity to experience leadership roles, teamwork, commitment and responsibility. Participation in athletics helps students develop time management and organizational skills, self-discipline, goal setting, accountability and confidence. Athletics at the Academy promotes sportsmanship and respect for others among athletes, coaches, parents and spectators.
