Early Years Program at the Academy

The Early Years program is comprised of Pre-Kindergarten through Kindergarten 2.
The program delivers a values-based education where every child feel valued. This is accomplished with a three-tiered early childhood development approach that begins at 2.9 years (by Sept. 1st) in pre-kindergarten then progresses through Kindergarten 1 (4 years old by Sept. 1st ) onto Kindergarten 2 (5 years old by Sept. 1st ) maxing out at age 6.
The program offers a comprehensive curriculum, a Mini Makerspace Exploration Center, Bee-Bot® early coding, Osmo™ technology for creation and collaboration, access to StarBoard interactive whiteboards, a sensory room and iPads, and projects that promote environmental responsibility such as gardening, recycling, and composting.
The Early Years program also benefits from being a part of a larger learning community that extends through grade 12:
- Interaction with older students as Chapel buddies, Hallmark Helpers and student interns
- Use of expansive natural environment (fields, ponds, forests) as an extension of the classroom
- Access to building resources such as Chapel, auditorium, gymnasium, and playgrounds
- On-site school nurse
- Inclusion in special programming such as magicians and performing artists
