School Counseling
NDA has a School Counselor on staff to provide various supports to our student body. The goal of the school counseling function is to proactively provide the relevant life skills needed to succeed in and out of school. The School Counselor also manages student 504s/IEPs to ensure each student receives an equitable educational experience.
Academic Support
- Providing peer tutor relationships
- Individualized work/study plans
- Executive functioning support (i.e. time management)
- Student-teacher problem solving, and more
Mental Health & Wellness Support
The Academy understands the challenges and complexities faced by our student body. As such, supports in the areas of mental health and wellness have been put in place in school. This includes:
- Individual short-term relief counseling
- Small group counseling
- Referrals for evaluations
- Conflict resolution
- Other support, as needed
Grade Level Seminars
Students in all grade levels take a bi-weekly seminar course facilitated by the Upper School Student Support Services team. The focus of these seminars include:
- High school acclimation
- Study skills
- Social-emotional learning
- Student wellness
- College and career counseling including student interests and abilities, career exploration and college planning
Our School Counselor is available for parent meetings upon request.
College Counseling

100% college attendance rate for all seniors who apply.

High school students receive over 100 hours of college and career services in small groups and individual meetings.

All students work with the College and Career Counselor from freshman to senior year.

Individualized pathways to better assist students as they navigate the college planning process.

Training and access to Naviance, our career and college information database.

Yearly grade level evening information sessions are scheduled for students and their families.
Students and families may contact their College Counselor anytime to request a meeting.
