High School Placement Test (HSPT)

The Academy of Notre Dame offers the High School Placement Test (HSPT) for 8th grade students interested in applying for the Upper School. The Academy proctors the High School Placement Test each year; the on-site test date for this year is November 22, 2025. Students should arrive at NDA by 9:00AM and can expect to be on-site until 12:30PM

 

What is the High School Placement Test (HSPT)?

The HSPT is a specific placement exam for eighth grade students interested in pursuing admission to a Catholic Upper School. The test consists of Verbal Skills, Quantitative Skills, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics, and Language

 

When can I register? 

Registration begins on August 1st, and you may register online until November 20th through Scholastic Testing Services.

Is there a fee? 

Yes, there is a $40 to take the exam that must be paid at time of registration.

 

Can I take the HSPT elsewhere and transfer the scores to NDA? 

Yes, please use our school code (537) when adding additional schools to your profile. 

 

Do you take any other exam in lieu of the HSPT? 

The Academy also accepts the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).  

 

How long does it take for me to know my score?

Families receive score reports from Scholastic Testing Services within 3-5 weeks of the test date.
