NDA Student Paints for Peace

Foy has created an original 30” x 40” acrylic painting on canvas, titled What's Going On, that depicts her hope for a peaceful resolution of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

“Art can be so impactful,” Foy said.  “I took inspiration from Picasso’s Guernica.  By raffling the painting, I hope to bring our school community and the greater community together and provide a pathway to help and heal.”  She noted that many people are feeling hopeless and are seeking ways to help, whether big or small.

Foy noted that she has family ties in both Russia and Ukraine and the painting is very personal to her.  She hopes the work of art will humanize the sadness that the world feels for all the victims of the war and that her art will encourage people to pray daily for peace in Ukraine and the world.

“Natalie is a gifted artist,” said NDA Head of School Dr. Vittoria Pacifico.  “She is truly living our mission and Hallmarks that are essential characteristics and values of a Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur learning community.”

Through the efforts of Jamie Deignan, the NDA Campus Minister, the painting will be made available to local parishes for prayer vigils and to help support UNICEF throughout the Lenten season.  Raffle tickets are $5 each and may be purchased online.  Ms. Foy will do the honors of selecting the winner on April 25, 2022.

The painting is available for display at local parishes for prayer services for peace throughout the world. Contact NDA Campus Minister Jamie Deignan, jdeignan@ndatyngsboro.org, to reserve the painting for display at your parish.
