Camp NDA is Back!

Camp NDA will take full advantage of the Academy’s 200+ acre campus and provide all campers with a fun, traditional day camp experience with a educational twist focused on nature and environmental learning.

“The Academy’s campus is unique,” said Alexandra Webb, Camp NDA director and the Academy’s Environmental Education and Enrichment Coordinator.  “In addition to traditional camp activities such as sports, games and crafts, each week we will have a special theme and delve more deeply into that focus area.”

Webb noted that every week campers will learn about nature using NDA’s hiking trails, ponds, and Merrimack Valley’s only geodome.  The program will also take full advantage of the playing fields, makerspace and art studios at NDA.

“Hunting for salamanders, ponding, dissecting owl pellets, and learning wilderness skills are such a small sample of the unique to NDA activities that our campers will enjoy,” said Webb.

Families may register for just one or multiple weeks of camp.  Camp NDA is for children ages 5-12.  Children must be 5 years of age on their first day of camp.  This summer camp season the seven themes are:

Week 1 – Sports & Games (June 20 – June 24)

Week 2 – Wilderness & Wildlife (June 27 – July 1)

Week 3 – STEAM (July 5 – July 8)

Week 4 – Growing Strong (July 11 – July 15)

Week 5 – Water Week (July 18 – July 22)

Week 6 – Wilderness Skills (July 25 – July 29)

Week 7 – Olympic Games (August 1 – August 5)

Camp NDA will also include social and emotional learning daily.  Webb noted that many students are dealing with stress and anxiety because of the more than 2-years of pandemic related changes and, in some cases, increased isolation due to safety protocols.  Camp life will include an opening and closing circle for children to express their feelings and concerns.  They will also learn life skills for conflict resolution, self-management, and relationship building.

The cost of camp is $375 per week and includes morning and afternoon snacks.  Campers must bring their own lunch and a refillable water bottle. Families who register before April 4 will save $50 for each week registered. Learn more and register at Camp NDA.
