MassDOT Advisory: Tyngsborough Temporary Daytime Lane Closures on a Section of Middlesex Road

Closures will occur on Thursday, September 30, and on Friday, October 1, from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

TYNGSBOROUGH – The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing it will be implementing daily temporary lane closures on a portion of Middlesex Road, between Old Tyng Road and the New Hampshire state line, in Tyngsborough. The lane closures will be in place on Thursday, September 30, and on Friday, October 1, during daytime hours from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The closures are needed to allow crews to conduct maintenance pavement resurfacing operations including utility structure adjustments and pavement marking improvements.

Occasional ramp closures will be necessary and brief stoppages may occur. Detours will be in place during ramp closures as follows:
Route 3 northbound traffic will be detoured to exit 1 (in New Hampshire) to Spit Brook Road to Daniel Webster highway to Middlesex Road when the ramp from Route 3 northbound to Middlesex Road (exit 91) is closed.

Middlesex Road southbound traffic will be detoured to Route 113 (Kendall Road) to Route 3 when the ramps from Middlesex Road to Route 3 northbound and southbound are closed.

Middlesex Road northbound traffic will be detoured to Daniel Webster Highway to Spit Brook Road to Route 3 when the ramps from Middlesex Road to Route 3 northbound and southbound are closed.
This work is being done under a district-wide resurfacing contract with Newport Construction as the prime contractor. The estimated value of this work assignment is approximately $1.3 million. The anticipated completion date for all related work is October 15.

The schedule for this work is weather dependent and subject to change without notice. Drivers who are traveling through the area should reduce speed and use caution. Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area. Detour routes will be appropriately signed during any ramp closures.
