Student Council

The Academy's Lower School Student Council was established in 2015 by the initiative of a small group of 8th grade students. Based on the idea of the Academy’s Hallmark 4, “We Commit Ourselves to Community Service,” the students founded the Student Council with the vision of making a bigger impact on the community around them.

With the assistance of two faculty advisors, the Student Council program is open to students in grades 3 through 8, with each homeroom electing a member to the program. Students in grades 7 and 8 may serve as the Council’s officers.

Throughout the year the Student Council organizes school-wide events to encourage friendship and student cooperation and works closely with the school’s community service and honors program, the Beta Club. The biggest project the student council organizes includes the sale of candy grams several times throughout the year. The council prepares and sells candy and notes that classrooms can send to their classmates for small monetary amounts. The money is then donated to a local charity of the Council’s choice.
