The Academy's International Program
The Academy of Notre Dame's International Program provides a one-of-a-kind study abroad experience for students who live outside of the United States. While our pristine 200+ acre campus offers a beautiful natural in which to study, our location is also in close proximity to the cultural and historical landmarks of the cities of Lowell and Boston.
We accept boys and girls for our Middle School's 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classes and young women for grades 9 through 12 in our Upper School, which is the only all-girls high school in the vicinity. At the Academy we provide a part-time support person to assist International students, school-college guidance, a hot lunch program, transportation along two routes, after school clubs and activities, athletics, and field trip opportunities. Pictured here is the 2018 Upper School delegation for Model United Nations in which five of our International Program students participated.

Would you like to study in America?
The international program at the Academy of Notre Dame is unlike others. We offer international students the opportunity to immerse themselves in American culture by attending our Upper School or Middle School. International students of high school age are offered classes in our private, all-girls Catholic Upper School setting that ranges from college preparatory, to honors to advanced placement courses, and even virtual high school classrooms. Our students are involved in active school environment and thrive on challenging course work and many even achieve the honor of being inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS). (Pictured on the right are five students who inducted into NHS on March 13, 2018)
The Middle School experience is similar, but is offered to both boys and girls in our private, co-ed Catholic Middle School with rigorous academic programs. There is also a vast array of athletic offerings and extra-curricular clubs that international students can participate in.
Our beautiful 200+ acre campus features a main school building, separate gymnasium, tennis courts, softball and soccer fields, an outdoor track, and scenic woodlands that even include several ponds.
Our International Student Program Manager will see to it that all the needs of international students are met, whether it be obtaining tutoring services, providing assistance in finding a host family, college planning and preparation, or arranging fun outings and activities. All students must apply to the Academy through an agency, and a host family is not required if the student will be living with a parent in the local area.

The Academy's International Student Application Process
The Academy of Notre Dame (NDA) is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant students. International student applicants are always welcome at the Academy of Notre Dame. Only girls are accepted in our Upper School, while the Middle School is co-ed. All students are expected to be fluent in English. Applications are accepted for fall entry. Our Upper School's International Program is designed to be long-term, leading to an earned diploma. It is not a short-term exchange program. For international program tuition, please contact the International Program office at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All international students, even those who are 18, are required to apply to the Academy through an agency, and may reside either with a host family or with a parent. Students are expected to be represented by an agency for the duration of their enrollment, even if living with a parent. Arranging for an accommodation is the responsibility of the student’s placement agency, though the Academy will provide assistance in identifying potential host families. Living arrangements are to be coordinated among the host family, placement agency and student's parents.
All international students/agencies should take the following steps in order to be considered for admission to the Academy of Notre Dame:
- Complete online NDA or agency application together with corresponding documents
- Submit $150 non-refundable application fee (payable by check or online)
- Furnish two letters of recommendation from current teachers in both English and Math
- Enclose TOEFL score report (test must be taken within a year of the date of application) or send Duolingo English Test Result
- Provide transcripts for all education completed (must be in English with official seal)
- Include copy of passport
Once all the above items have been received, a Skype interview will be scheduled. The Admissions Committee will then review the required documents, discuss the interview, and make a decision. Upon acceptance to the Academy, the student must submit updated health records showing all immunizations and physical exams as well as US$5,000 deposit (refundable only if visa is unattainable). Shortly after the receipt of the full deposit, an I-20 will be issued.
Payment of full tuition and fees is due on July 1st each year. Students are responsible for purchasing appropriate dress code clothing and paying any applicable bus transportation fees.
If at any time a student decides to withdraw from enrollment, parents or agents must notify the Admissions Office in writing. No refund will be provided after January 1st.
For tuition details or further information, please contact the International Program office at email@example.com or 978-649-7611, Ext. 339.
The International Experience
Meet Sieun "Olivia" Lee '17
Olivia is from South Korea, but spent her high school years at the Academy of Notre Dame (NDA) as an International Program student. While here she was active in Glee Club, Piano, and Damie's Digest (school newspaper). After graduating in June 2017, she enrolled at New York University (NYU) where she is studying applied psychology. She intends to work towards a Phd and would like to pursue a career in research and counseling.
The NDA Experience
"If it wasn't for NDA, I would not be the person I am today," says Olivia. "NDA is a small, family-like environment which really helped me to thrive. I had many teachers who played a significant role in my academic development, but my math teacher was the most influential helping me dispell my phobia of math."
"My years at NDA provided a true cultural immersion experience for me. I was one of only three international students in the senior class and I was able to quickly build friendships. My friends taught me note taking skills which became invaluable."
"I received support from NDA's International Program coordinators particularly with regards to essay writing and grammar. I really appreciated the frequent check-ins to make sure I was doing well."
"I was anxious about college level work, but found that I was really prepared academically and NDA did that for me."
