We will be training using the National Training System for compound and recurve bows developed by USA Archery and which is based on the biomechanical muscular activity of the body.
The program will focus on:
Range safety and equipment safety
Mental fortitude and mental focus
National Training System Steps of Shooting
We will be working with the universal compound bow and Olympic style take-down recurve bows. Students are welcome to bring their own gear, if they have it, however, we will provide all the necessary equipment.
About the Instructor:
Gladys Velez Caicedo is a compound archer with more than eight years experience in collegiate and international archery. Gladys began shooting competitively on the Columbia University Women's Varsity Archery Squad and continued to shoot with her national team in Pereira, Risaralda, Colombia. Gladys has a background as a compound target archer with experience in both teaching and training. For the past year, Gladys has been focusing on the teaching and training technique of the Olympic recurve bow, as well.
Gladys is a USA Archery Level 2 Certified Instructor. She is passionate about archery and enjoys working with students to help improve their archery skills. The most valuable lesson archery can teach is healthy mental balance, self-love, and deep inner strength.
