NDA Welcomes New Assistant Head of Middle School and Dean of STEAM

The Academy of Notre Dame’s (NDA) Head of School, Dr. Vittoria Pacifico, is pleased to announce the appointment of James Flynn, Ed.D. of Peabody, MA, in a new dual role as Assistant Head of Middle School (Principal) and Dean of STEAM for pre-kindergarten through grade 12.

Dr. Flynn earned his Doctorate in Learning, Leadership, and Community at Plymouth State University. In addition, he holds a Certificate for Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from Salem State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching Chemistry from Salem State University and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Merrimack College.

“I am thrilled to have such an accomplished educational professional as Dr. Flynn join my restructured team here at NDA,” says Dr. Pacifico. “His energy and proven leadership skills both as an administrator and teacher will pave the way for new and exciting opportunities in the Middle School.”

Dr. Flynn brings to NDA seven years of experience as an assistant principal at Salem High School in Salem, MA, where he also taught chemistry (college prep, honors, and advanced placement) for eleven years prior to his promotion. While at Salem High, he served on the accreditation steering committee, performed administrative duties for the MCAS program, supported the athletic director, provided SAT tutorials, and taught summer school. 

Additionally, Dr. Flynn taught at Salem State University for four years as an adjunct professor and continues to teach there as a visiting lecturer. He also has extensive experience as a coach for baseball, basketball, and football.
