Coach’s Award: Jelani Nsilo-Swai (North Chelmsford)
On June 7, the Upper School held their annual Sports Awards Banquet, supported by the Upper School parents’ group, Friends of NDA (FoNDA), to recognize all the student athlete achievements in grades 9-12. They were honored for not only their talent on the fields and courts, but also for their dedication, teamwork and sportsmanship.
The Rachel Anne Morrison Scholar Athlete Award was presented toElena Murguia of Hollis, NH, who was a dependable member of the volleyball, basketball, softball, and tennis teams. This year, Murguia was named a CAC Volleyball All-Star. In the fall, she will attend Cornell University.
Caitlin Ryan of Groton was the recipient of the Alumnae Athletic Award. She was named an MVC Swimming All-Star this year and will be attending Endicott College.
The recipient of the Sr. Kathryn Lawrence McGuiggan, SND Distinguished AthletewasNatalie Kelleher of Lowell, who was an accomplished member of the soccer, basketball and softball teams. During her time at the Academy, Kelleher has received honors as Soccer Most Valuable Defensive Player, Basketball Coach’s Award, Softball Rookie of the Year, and Softball Most Valuable Player. She was named a two-time CAC Soccer All-Star, two-time CAC Softball All-Star, and three-time CAC Basketball All-Star. This fall, Kelleher will attend the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
Bridget Ryan of Groton was recognized with the Comeback Athlete Award. She was a member of the basketball team and served as captain of the soccer and tennis teams. This year, she was named a CAC Soccer All-Star. In the fall, B. Ryan will attend Stonehill College.
C. Ryan was also recognized as a 14-season athlete.
Five students were recognized as 12-season athletes. Among those students were Victoria Bradley of Dracut, Kelleher, Murguia, B. Ryan, and Jillian Wright of Nashua, NH.
Jacqueline DeNisco of Medford was recognized as an 11-season athlete.
