Everybody’s favorite fireside treat will be featured again this year at the Academy of Notre Dame’s Tours & S’mores Open House. The Open House will include supervised fire rings where families can toast their gooey s’mores after enjoying a sweet tour of NDA.
“We want to make this event an exciting family outing, where prospective families can explore our programs and campus while enjoying their time together with a bit of what makes New England winters so quintessential,” says Elisa Lellios, Director of Admissions. “After families tour the school, they’ll receive a s’mores kit with everything they need to make a tasty treat outside.”
The event will be held on Saturday, February 2nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will welcome families of all grade ranges from Pre-K to grade 12. “One of our strengths at the Academy is the tight-knit, family culture,” explains Lellios. “Instead of just talking to new families about it, we wanted to show them what that means.”
NDA Students from the grades 7-12 will serve as tour guides. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff to learn more about the co-educational programs for Early Years (Pre-K-Kindergarten 2), Lower School (Grades 1-5), and Middle School (Grades 6-8) and the college-preparatory all-girls program for Upper School (Grades 9-12).
A showcase of student organizations, athletics, student services, and specials (music, art, technology, and physical education) will be available as well.
“We’re excited to show families our Makerspaces, Student Center and playground while they are here visiting,” enthuses Lellios. “We are fortunate to be able to offer our families a 200+ acre campus that highlights both our history and our future growth potential.”
Current NDA parents as well as alumni will also be on hand to chat with prospective families while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate.
