– Join the students and staff of the Upper School at the Academy of Notre Dame (NDA) as they bring to life the imaginative and heartwarming story of “Anne of Green Gables.”
Since September, students have dedicated countless hours and energy to present three performances of the play based on the novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Every student has done their part for the shows, whether it be blocking, painting, or rehearsing lines.
Drama Guild Director, Amy Marrello is quite pleased with how well the girls have taken on character roles.
“The story of “Anne of Green Gables” is resonating right now with audiences young and old thanks to the popular Netflix series ‘Anne with an E’ and our students are doing a brilliant job bringing the story to life on the NDA stage," said Marrello.
The classic tale takes place in the fictional town of Avonlea, Nova Scotia. Anne Shirley is an orphan that is mistakenly sent to live with siblings, Marilla and Matthew to help run their family farm at Green Gables. The siblings begin to fall in love with Anne’s caring, imaginative and sometimes overdramatic personality as she thrives in and brightens up the close-knit village.
Junior Katherine Aste of Lowell will take lead of the play as Anne. Other cast members include: Junior Olivia Gavlak of Hudson, NH; Junior Jenna Ebeed of Windham, NH; Eighth-Grader Charlotte Lokere of Westford; Sophomore Luying (Zoe) Zhou of Lowell; Junior Lucera Story of North Chelmsford; Eighth-Grader Yesenia Collins of Tyngsboro; Sophomore Madison Breault of Dracut; Senior Rebecca Morgheim of Dracut; Senior Anoutsa Latsapanya of Lowell; and English Literature Teacher Helen Stamas.
The performance dates are this Friday, November 30 and Saturday, December 1. Show times are at 7 p.m., as well as a 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Raffle and concessions will be available at each show. This year, the Academy will also feature a free meet and greet with the cast after the matinee show.
