Academy Teacher Recognized for Dedication to Teaching

Academy of Notre Dame (NDA) Upper School Science Teacher, Enhua Wang, Ph.D., was honored at the 2018 Amgen Biotech Experience (ABE) Teacher Recognition Awards recently at Harvard University.
Through the ABE lab exchange program, the science program at the Academy has been able to provide students with the opportunity to use research-grade molecular biology equipment and reagent. The ABE-Massachusetts program is offered through the Life Sciences Outreach Program at Harvard University. Wang uses the ABE equipment in all four of her biology classes.
Unbeknownst to her, Wang's students nominated her for the award through an ABE post-lab evaluation form. The award advisory committee received 220 nominations for 33 ABE teachers. Ten teachers were selected to be recognized.
“We were ecstatic to hear of Enhua’s award,” said Pam Bernazani, Academy of Notre Dame Interim Principal. “She is a gifted woman who thoroughly invests herself in her work. The students, as well as the entire NDA community are very lucky to have her.”
In a letter announcing her nomination, the advisory committee wrote that they were blown away by the number and quality of the nominations and thus had a difficult time selecting ten winners.
At the recognition event, Tara Bristow, site director for the ABE-Massachusetts program presented Wang with a certificate and a $100 gift card to purchase lab supplies and reagents for her classroom.
"I am glad to be a part of the NDA community and I appreciate the support from my students, my colleagues and administration," said Wang.
