Eighteen students at the Academy of Notre Dame High School in Tyngsboro have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on Advanced Placement (AP) Exams for the 2018 session.
The College Board's Advanced Placement Program provides academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement in college classes, or both, for successful performances on AP Exams. Exams are graded on a 5-point score, with 5 being the highest. The Academy of Notre Dame scholar awardees have an average of 3.82 for all AP exams taken.
The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on performance on AP Exams. The following is a list of awards and the 2018 honorees.
AP Scholar with Distinction: This honors students who receive an average score of 3.5 or greater on all AP Exams and who score a 3 or higher on five or more tests. The students earning this honor are: Lauren Bradley ’18 of Tyngsboro; Claire French ’18 of Nashua, NH; Annie Kelley ’18 of Lowell; Annmarie Kordish ’18 of Tyngsboro; Eileen Leach ’18 of Groton; Emma McLeod ’18 of Tewksbury; Preksha Munot ’18 of Tewksbury; Clare Newman ’18 of Littleton; Tuyenhan Nguyen ’18 of Tyngsboro; Emma Paxton ’18 of Groton; Sarah Piela ’18 of Nashua, NH; and Katherine Tarantino ’18 of Pepperell.
AP Scholar with Honor: This honors students who earn an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams and who score a 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. The students earning this honor are: Rebecca Leary ’18 of Nashua, NH and Eileen Mancini ’18 of Groton.
AP Scholars: This honor is awarded to students completing three or more exams with scores of 3 or higher. Students earning this honor are: Keely Ford ’18 of Chelmsford; Marilyn Hrytsay ’18 of Merrimack, NH; Elena Murguia, senior, of Hollis, NH; and Haichun Sun, senior, of Tyngsboro.
The Academy of Notre Dame offers AP courses in each major academic subject and preparation for several other AP tests through a combination of direct instruction and independent study. Overall, 92% of all Academy students taking an AP exam earned a 3 or higher.
