International Student Application Process
The Academy of Notre Dame (NDA) is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant students. International student applicants are always welcome at the Academy of Notre Dame. Only girls are accepted in our Upper School, while the Lower School is co-ed. Although in-school tutoring services are offered, all students are expected to be fluent in English. Applications are accepted for fall entry. Our Upper School's International Program is designed to be long-term, leading to an earned diploma. It is not a short-term exchange program.
All international students, even those who are 18, are required to apply to the Academy through an agency, and may reside either with a host family or with a parent or adult family member living in the local area. Arranging for an accommodation is the responsibility of the student’s placement agency, though the Academy will provide assistance in identifying potential host families. Living arrangements are to be coordinated among the host family, placement agency and student's parents.
All international students/agencies should take the following steps in order to be considered for admission to the Academy of Notre Dame:
- Complete online NDA or agency application together with corresponding documents
- Submit $100 application fee (check only)
- Furnish two letters of recommendation from current teachers in both English and Math
- Enclose TOEFL score report (test must be taken within a year of the date of application). SLEP is no longer accepted.
- Provide transcripts for all education completed (must be in English with official seal)
- Include copy of passport
Once all the above items have been received, a Skype interview will be scheduled. The Admissions Committee will then review the required documents, discuss the interview, and make a decision. Upon acceptance to the Academy, the student must submit updated health records showing all immunizations and physical exams as well as US$5,000 deposit (refundable only if visa is unattainable). Shortly after the receipt of the full deposit, an I-20 will be issued.
Payment of full tuition and fees is due on August 1st each year. Students are responsible for purchasing appropriate dress code clothing and paying any applicable bus transportation fees.
If at any time a student decides to withdraw from enrollment, parents or agents must notify the Admissions Office in writing. No refund will be provided after January 1st.
